What we do
Autisme Rwanda’s programs focus on specialist autism education, individualized care, parent support, teacher and community awareness, screening and referral, and inclusion for children and young people.
For over 9 years we have supported children aged 3 to 15 and their families. Our mission is to facilitate daily life for people living with autism. Our vision is a society that opens up to them and recognizes their humanity and skills.
At Autisme Rwanda, we believe every autistic child, young person and family deserves understanding, respectful support, inclusive learning opportunities and access to appropriate care.
Inclusive policies are not only about access, but also about justice, dignity, and opportunity. By embracing diversity, Rwanda moves closer to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education for All.
Understanding autism is the foundation for dignity, inclusion and better support.
True autism support must:
Respecting the unique identities, abilities, and needs of learners through individualized education plans and daily living support.
Removing barriers so that marginalized and vulnerable groups are not left behind — at home, in school and in the community.
Giving every learner the support and opportunities they need to succeed, grounded in evidence and compassionate care.
I. SPECIALIST CARE
Focus: Individualized learning, care and daily support for autistic children and young people aged 3–15.

Focus: Helping families, schools and communities understand autism and reduce stigma.

Focus: Using safe digital tools to identify high-risk results and coordinate follow-up.

Focus: Building capacity for parents, teachers, community health workers and staff.

Projects
Practical autism support: specialist education, awareness, family guidance, screening, referral, district follow-up and safe reporting. Photos remain placeholders until Autisme Rwanda media is available.
Community support work that strengthens autism awareness, caregiver confidence, school inclusion and referral pathways. The system supports district dashboards for all 30 districts, showing children screened, high-risk results, age distribution and assigned follow-up staff.
Project 2
Inclusion and outreach to help families, schools and community actors understand autism and connect children with supportive learning and follow-up.
Project 3
Supporting community teams, schools and local partners to track autism support needs and coordinate safe next steps for families.
Project 4
Digital screening initiative that helps families access autism information, complete non-diagnostic screening, and request guidance.
